Since the age of six I have had a very keen interest in
photography. It all started with my parents' camera that used
"magic cube" flash units.
I was intrigued by the colours of the flash and what was
happening. My father was plagued by a million and one
questions until I understood the full workings of the camera.
I was fortunate that my primary school decided to build a
dark room from scratch, and I was involved in painting the
black walls and learning how to use the developing equipment.
My passion was fuelled further when I joined the Brownies and
discovered I could obtain a photography badge which, of
course, I had to have.
My parents were amazed to discover that at only seven years
old I could actually take a picture that was in focus and had
a reasonable amount of artistic content to it.
I soon had regular use of my parents' camera to keep
practising and developing my skills. I started saving tokens
from a leading bread manufacturer for my own camera and soon
I had it ... my very own 110mm camera. And all my pocket
money went on films and developing costs!
This interest continued through my life. As I grew so did the
cameras and my skills. Photography was a very important hobby
throughout most of my life, so in September 2007 I decided to
make my hobby my career.
Rachael Thomson Photography has been a new challenge but I am
enjoying every single moment of it.
I am lucky that my I love my career and hope that this
reflects through to my customers.
I hope that one day you will benefit from my passion and love
for photography.
